Founding History

Pioneering the Future of Global Education

Rutherford University of Science and Technology (RUST) is a human values-education centered higher learning institution. It was started by dedicated arts, scientists, and engineering professionals in 2012 and now operates in countries worldwide. The University has its international headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda, and other active regional offices in Africa and beyond.

As a private and non-profit education entity, RUST's social responsibility is to bring innovated, high-quality education to all worldwide. We maintain a serious operating philosophy and strong operational ethical behavior which prepares our graduates to be highly brilliant in the global labor market and transforms them into competent candidates recruited by prestigious public and private institutions.

RUST is actively executing a strategic plan to establish its own physical facilities in all of its operational centers worldwide from now until 2030.

At a time when the world's economy is growing faster, we must think of the best strategies and methodologies to bring quality education closer to all and make it more inclusive. It is under this context that RUST is designed to bring structured learning closer with a quality program implementation plan.

Our mission is to enable professionals from lower-income countries to acquire reputable knowledge and skills that empower them to discover development trends and opportunities in their home livelihoods. RUST capacitates students to develop critical thinking bound by positive and right attitudes to transform their socio-economic status, starting from themselves.

Education is the ultimate key to eliminating gender inequality, reducing poverty, creating a sustainable planet, preventing needless deaths and illness, and fostering global peace. Our students take pride in studying at RUST as we actively coach, mentor, and incubate them to think big and solve worldwide challenges.

Since our founding, RUST has operated as an advanced e-learning platform hosting physically invigilated exams for professionals globally, ensuring absolute academic integrity. We provide financial assistance and are dedicated to serving students across:
